Finding Her Way: Gardening, Grandkids, and Granger
In 2020, a documentary introduced Kelley Fead to Guide Dogs for the Blind at a pivotal moment in her life. Navigating vision loss, a career transition, and a move to California, she sought the independence a guide dog could help provide. What she gained was not only transformative training and mobility skills, but also a deep bond with her guide dog Granger and the community that helped raise him.
Career and Canine Connections Program: Helping Youth Flourish
For many youths who are blind or visually impaired, guide dogs are more than travel companions—they can spark professional growth. That idea drives Guide Dogs for the Blind’s partnership with the American Printing House for the Blind’s Career Connect Center. Through the Careers and Canine Connections program, we combine guide-dog mobility training with real-world career development to help youths pursue their goals with confidence.
The holiday season is a time to celebrate togetherness, joy, and gratitude with both our two- and four-legged family members. Whether your gatherings are big or small this year, one thing remains constant: the importance of keeping our dogs safe and comfortable during all the festivities.
