It’s illegal for rideshare companies to deny rides to people traveling with their guide dogs. Last month, blindness community members and allies from 48 states rallied in San Francisco to highlight Uber and Lyft’s failure to stop these discriminations.
At a young age, Emerson Archuleta mastered mobility skills as a white cane user, but by 14, she sought greater independence. After researching guide dog schools, she attended a Guide Dog Experience Day where a supervised walk with a guide dog sparked her excitement to pursue the guide dog lifestyle.
