Camp GDB helps teens explore the guide dog lifestyle and connect with other youth who are blind or visually impaired. Campers have the opportunity to walk with a guide dog and spend time in our veterinary clinic and kennels meeting many canine friends and learning about dog care.
These “Golden Girls” are living their best lives in Arizona
You may remember BettyRose, the adorable Lab/Golden Retriever cross named in honor of the late actress Betty White and the character she played on Golden Girls, Rose Nylund. Betty was a dedicated supporter and dear friend to GDB for more than 30 years. So, it only seemed fitting that we would name a spunky golden colored pup after her.
GDB caught up with graduate Ellie Burgess to see how she and BettyRose are doing since they graduated from our guide dog training school in December 2023.
GDB Behind the Scenes: Meet our Canine Welfare/Training Technicians!
When GDB dogs return to our California and Oregon campuses for formal training and evaluation, our Canine Welfare/Training Technicians (CWTTs) provide them with excellent physical and psychological care. In addition to feeding, walking, exercising, bathing, grooming and keeping their kennels clean, CWTTs ensure each dog gets plenty of playtime to enrich their physical and mental well-being.
In this segment, GDB Alumni Association Manager, Amy Salger, and Lead Researcher, Melba Vélez-Ortiz, share the staggering results of GDB’s rideshare survey and what GDB is doing to ensure that rideshare companies are held accountable for these egregious actions.
Pupdates are fun monthly updates with anecdotes and photos about each dog on campus, including dogs in Training, Breeding Evaluation, K9 Buddy Evaluation, placed with our Community Partners, Career Change dogs awaiting placement, and more.
