All Aboard!

GDB puppy raisers and clients recently had the opportunity to climb onboard Seattle’s Sound Transit bus! The outing gave guide dog puppies in training an opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of public transit before they returned to campus for formal training. The bus was wrapped in larger-than-life GDB photos that will help to bring attention to our life-changing mission as it rolls through the streets of Seattle in the coming months.

GDB Client Gets Her Independence Back

GDB's Orientation and Mobility Immersion (OMI) Program teaches clients skills to live safer, more independent lives with a cane or a guide dog. GDB client Becky Campbell says vision loss took away her independence, but GDB’s OMI class gave her the tools to regain her independence and more.

The Spectrum of Vision Loss

Did you know that only 18% of people who are blind or visually impaired are totally blind? According to the American Foundation for the Blind, it’s more common for people to experience loss of their central or peripheral vision or have spotted or blurred vision as the result of disease, injury to the eye, or an inherited or congenital condition. Even people who can’t see anything at all may have the ability to perceive some light.
